Dr. Roger K. Smith was born and raised in Wyandotte County. He received his bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Emporia State University and his D.D.S. (Doctor of Dental Surgery) from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1974. He completed his Residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas in 1983. Following his military career, he retired from the United States Air Force in 1995.

Dr. Smith is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Kansas and Missouri Dental Associations, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He enjoys all phases of his specialty, with particular interest in Anesthesia and Pathology.

Dr. Smith and his wife, Rebecca, are the parents of three children. He and his family are involved in many church activities, and he enjoys hunting, photography, gardening, antique furniture restoration, and spending time with his family.
